Before you travel: checklist
- Check your passport meets the validity rules above; many countries require six months beyond your travel dates.
- See your GP or a travel clinic six to eight weeks before departure for vaccinations and, where relevant, malaria prophylaxis.
- Arrange travel insurance that covers your destination, your activities and any medical conditions, from the day you book.
- For Europe, carry a GHIC card alongside (never instead of) travel insurance.
- Check any visa or electronic travel authorisation is approved before you fly; airlines check at the desk.
